“There are pros and cons. First the pro, it does cool, all to well. Those with partners may say it does not, that's body heat. My wife who can heat a room was cold and I got out of bed. Same for me when she left. In fact you move more and keep hitting a cool spot over and over. The con is this pad is slick in fact like Ice slick. The sheets will move and slide when you move. Some find this annoying. Type of sheet makes no difference. So in short if you want cool and you sleep solo you will love this as long as you can deal with the moving sheet. Note; way to expensive for something not perfected,”

“It's amazing to me how everyone has different experiences with this mattess protector. There were many great reviews, but also alot of negative reviews. The negative ones described the mattress protector as being slippery, hard, and ineffective. I found it to be quite the opposite. This came with our new Stearns and Foster. Our mattress is still extremely comfortable with this protector on. I'm not sure what some mean about it being slippery either. Our bed sheets (fitted and flat) have remained in place just fine. The best part is how it does it's job with preventing liquid from soaking through. I've purchased many mattress protectors in the past. Our young daughters would pee their bed at night, and those protectors did the opposite of protect. Their urine soaked right on through. Not with this Bedgear brand! Our youngest slept in our bed last night and unfortunately peed the bed. I was fully expecting our brand new mattress to be soaked. The mattress protector was soaked, but the mattress was completely dry! It was ALOT of urine too. I am still extremely impressed. Great product!”

“They claim that this bed cover will Instantly Cool All Night Long. That was a completely wrong information. Not only that this cover is overpriced, it does not cool you at all after just 20- 30 minutes you lay on it. It also makes the surface of the mattress harder. I followed all their suggestions like lowering the temperature in the room, etc but it did not help. Instead of any compensation for the wrong advertising they offer me to buy their sheets which I assume will be another scam because you can't return them if opened. And probably they would underperform the same way as the cover.”

“I have had my vertex mattress protector for 3 years now. It helped a lot with changing some of the temperature when i sleep. After picking up the dri tech sheets with 100x more air flow, I really felt the coolness of the protector to it’s fullest potential. Last I got a solar pillow and i sleep as cool as i’m ever going to sleep. I started with the protector, then got the sheets, and then got the pillow. All that to say it’s worth buying all three. The cold pillow breathes best through the sheets and the protector can be felt best through the dri tech sheets. I have never slept cooler with these 3 components!!!! I actually washed my sheets and vertex protector one night and was tired and the protector took a little longer to dry so i said I’ll just go to sleep and put it on tomorrow...I laid down for about 5 minutes and realized how much of a difference it made!!! I waited til it dried, put it on, and went to sleep! Haha. All that to say I highly recommend this protector, but especially with the sheets and the pillow. Amazing amazing new way to sleep!!!”

I was assured that "everybody loves" this cooling protector and there have never been any complaints. The protector is definitely cool to the touch and is beautifully designed and well made, but it seems to trap the heat of the memory foam. I'm finding the mattress 'breathes' better without it, and is less hot. With the protector, the mattress gets hotter AND softer, which is kind of a disaster. The Ver-Tex protector is of good quality (but boy am I glad I didn't have to buy it at $300 for my king bed) and I would recommend it for a non-memory foam mattress.”

I don’t like being warm when I sleep and our last mattress made my husband sweat horribly when he slept. I was really hesitant about the cost because we’ve had other toppers that didn’t live up to their promises- primarily the waterproof part. With three kids we need every surface to be easily cleanable or fully protected. This topper does a good job of keeping us cooler when we sleep, but the part that has really impreased me is that it really protects from all liquids. A kiddo with a submerged cast sat on my bed with water pouring out of it and it didn’t go past the topper, also tons and tons of toddler juice has been caught by this thing. It also releases stains very easily. It also fits very snuggly in the mattress.”

In the summer, when it is very hot and humid here it doesn't work because we don't use AC in the house, so the protector has no cool air to collect from it's environment. We sleep on the protector without any other sheet covering it, washed it already 1 time and still works well, did not shrink (read instructions. It's only too bad we overpaid with like $100 in our local mattress shop....”

“This protector is absolutely amazing at pulling heat away from your body. Is it expensive? Sure is! It is designed to go with the hyper cotton or Dri Tech Sheets. Honestly the protector and the sheets are like peanut butter and jelly, especially if you got this protector because you sleep hot. Wash it first. People complain of slipping and sliding (although it never happened to me HOWEVER wash it once before you lay on it and it will get the initial “sheen” off of it. I PROMISE you if you get the sheets to go with this protector you WILL NOT be disappointed. Some things are just meant to go together. Plus the Dri Tech Sheets got 2017 Health Magazine Best Home Buys! Anyway hope this helps. There are a lot of negative reviews on here because people have an improper expectation of this mattress protector. It pulls heat away from you. It doesn’t throw ice on you haha. But seriously. Great Investment

“So just like alot of the reviews I have read about people who ended up with the Vertex 6.0, I myself had never heard of it. I went to Rooms 2 Go, to purchase a bed, and the guy suggested a mattress protector, and from the first touch it was love at first. On the day of the delivery I went and just purchased any bed set, because I had a Queen bed prior, and now I have a King bed and I needed new sheets. To my surprise just like everyone, the sheets I bought wouldn't stay put. I would make the bed, and once I sat down on it, all the sheets and covers would go sliding. So I admit I was panicking because I know I wasn't going to just sleep on the mattress protector. I needed new sheets. So I got online, and I did my research and read a lot of reviews. Dri Tec sheets are expensive and similar products like Tempurpedic sheets would have to be ordered and it would take some time to receive them. I just needed sheets, and I needed them now, because I was not returning my Vertex 6.0. I then decided to just experiment. I went back to Bed Bath and Beyond and returned my bed set, and I looked around to see what other products they had. I almost got one of the Sheex products because I liked the band on the sheet, but I just didn't know if I could risk the investment and time, in case I would have to go back and exchange it. Plus the in-store prices were high, and they were lacking in variety of colors. So hopelessly I left without purchasing anything. I was determined to go back home with some sheets, so I called a couple if Bed stores like Ashleys (being that I saw in a few reviews that they were pushing the Vertex 6.0 to customers buying beds) and Mattress Firm. Finally I went to Walmart and I spent some time in their Sheet section, opening packages to see the sheet linning (personally I feel like it's all in the linning and the regular thin sheet linning that's usually sewn in the sheet wasn't going to cut it). The one that found that has ended up working on my bed is Hotel Style 600 TC with Optifit Technology. It fit perfectly and my bedding don't slide off when I sit on the bed. This investment was 67.99 before taxes for a King set of sheets with 2 pillow cases. Putting everything together and it not falling apart feels great. Sleep is important to all of us. To get the best sleep I had to invest time and money, but I'm glad I have. The Vertex 6.0 is the best mattress protector I've had despite the little hiccup I had with the slip and slide action. Thanks. I hope this helps anyone who has tried this product.”

“I have been sleeping on my 6.0 Ver-Tex for about 3 months now. I am very happy with it. I sleep very hot. Just a sheet on top most of the time. I have coupled this protector with the Dri-Tec sheets. I have read many of the reviews and noticed many complaints about the protector being slippery and hot. My experience while using a regular sheet was similarly slippery. They did slide all over the place. But after putting on the Dri-Tec sheets they stay in place “perfectly”. My bed is a split king Tempur Cloud with an adjustable base. You can move it into any position, and back again, throughout the night and these sheets stay in place. As for the protector itself, which this review is really about; it does help me stay cooler at night. I do not wake up sweating. It really is a pleasure to get in bed at night. I just gave my protector it’s first wash and put it back on with no issues. Good Housekeeping recommends washing a mattress protector “several times” per year. I am going for a wash every three months right now or as needed. The instructions were simple and it washed up perfectly. I honestly recommend this product.”

“Throughout the years I have tried many different mattress protectors including the Bedgeaer 5.0 Vertex, and I have found that none has matched the Vertex 6.0 and its ability to live up to its claims. We all have different sleep patterns and different body temperatures, increased sensitivity to hot and cold, insomnia and other health issues that may interrupt our sleep, but we have to be realistic about our expectations of a product, because as we age, our bodies change. I sleep hot and my husband sleeps cold and we find this mattress protector regulates our body temperatures and allows us to have a restful, uninterrupted sleep, without waking up hot and sweaty. I also have allergies and find that the breathable fabric, structure, design and detail help reduce the allergens, and the unique band keeps it firmly on the mattress. Some of the reviews I read about the 6.0 mattress protector, made references to the sheets sliding off because the protector was too slippery. I now have the Bedgear sheet set which I absolutely love and compliments the mattress protector and are a dream to sleep in however, since this review is about the mattress protector I want to add that you need to have the right sheets as well to fit the mattress protector. “I read several of the lower star reviews. I believe I know why this protector did not keep cool for some of the consumers. I owned the bedgear performance sheets before I purchased the 5.0 mattress protector, and eventually upgraded to this 6.0 mattress protector. There is a big difference between the 5.0 and the 6.0. The 6.0 will indeed keep you cooler at night if you're a hot sleeper ONLY IF you also use performance sheets. I'm not saying only bedgear performance sheets will work, I'm sure other brands of performance sheets will work with this mattress protector as well. But if you are using regular sheets from Target or Walmart, and expect the cooling technology in this protector to work, you are wrong. How do I know this? Because once a week we wash our performance sheets and let them air dry over night. Once a week we use normal sheets on our bed and feel the difference. This mattress protector will not work properly without performance sheets. If you have no intention of utilizing performance sheets with this protector, then you should look at the 5.0 mattress protector.”

So, because the pad stays cool on the surface, you can feel the cool with your hands, the product is as good as it can be. “As someone who runs hot all night, I was desperate for a solution. The Bedgear Ver-Tex mattress protector promised "instant cooling," and I'm happy to report that it largely delivers. The moment I lay down, there's a noticeable, cool-to-the-touch sensation that is incredibly refreshing. It truly helps me fall asleep faster without tossing and turning to find a cool spot. The technology behind this protector seems to work as advertised. The Ver-Tex fabric genuinely feels different from a typical mattress pad—it's smooth and has a certain slickness that helps with airflow. I've found that it helps regulate my body temperature throughout the night, preventing that sweaty, clammy feeling that used to wake me up. The fit is also excellent. The Powerband® elastic skirt hugs my mattress snugly, and it hasn't slipped or bunched up at all, even on my thick pillow-top. The waterproof barrier is an invisible shield; it's completely silent and doesn't change the feel of my mattress, which was a huge concern. It's a great peace of mind knowing my mattress is protected from spills and allergens without compromising on comfort. My only reason for not giving it a perfect five stars is the texture. While the "smooth" fabric is key to the cooling effect, it can be a bit slippery. My sheets tend to shift and slide more than they did with a traditional cotton protector, which can be a little annoying, especially if you move around a lot in your sleep. While it doesn't cause the sheets to completely come off, it's something I've had to get used to. Overall, if you are a hot sleeper, the Bedgear Ver-Tex is a game-changer.
