We sleep nightly on the king and gave the queen to our daughter who loves it. My first purchase was a seat which I currently use at my office. We bought a pillow years ago (they were flat back then) and still sleep on it today. The newest purchase was not as well made as the originals and appears as though it may easily fall apart. “But one thing that bothers me is that the box was clerly lacking instructions on which side is the "firm" side and which is "less firm". Would help because putting the gel pad in the cover takes a minute or two and invariably you wind up having to take it in and out to test which feels more comfortable. A simple graphic on the box would save customers the scratching the head time otherwise needed. Other than that it definitely helps with my bad back. Sitting long periods of time at a laptop on a chair with less than optimal cushioning really causes me pain and this cushion helps with that.”

“I have to sit for long periods of time due to my current occupation. Even with a padded seat, my butt was going numb and I was getting really uncomfortable after just short periods of time. This cushion has saved me! I can do what I need to do for longer periods of time without getting uncomfortable. I will note that it smells pretty funky (very strongly like...chemicals?) - washed it multiple times as per instructions (so the odor is an on-going issue) when I first got it, and washed the cushion cover. It's been a few months and it's slowly dissipating, but I can definitely still smell it. Also, if you put it on any kind of leather or faux-leather, the cushion cover will leave black marks.”

As a result, when she sits on it the pillow tends to slowly but consistently slip off the chair (regardless of the rugged bottom of the bag). I suggest making the pillows smaller and contoured, more suited to the average chair size. While I like the pillow's quality and comfort, this was a big failure from a practical perspective.”

“This is a fantastic cushion, better than 99% out there on the market right now, even with the issues I have I will still go Purple all the way. I just hope they some how sort out these issues, but it seems hard to engineer solutions around the problems I have. My first issue which many people have talked about, the cushion may slide forward occasionally. I have a leather office chair, so if I put most of my weight towards the front (if I put my legs up on my desk, or I'm holding my cat, or sometimes the cushion will just decide it doesn't like me anymore) it slides and will hang off the front of my chair, requiring me to stand up to fix it. Your mileage may vary, if you have a chair that's about as slippery as mine, just be prepared. I'd imagine if you had a mesh or cloth chair it would not slip as bad. Purple has replied to other reviews with recommendations of buying third party products, like non-slip pads. That is probably a solution, just kinda sucks buying a > $90 cushion and being told to go buy another $10 product to fix it. I would highly advise measuring your chair's bottom dimensions and making sure which seat cushion you want to pick. If I had the foresight, I would have bought the ultimate seat cushion so it fully fit the bottom of my chair. That's a me issue though and not this product's. My last complaint is even though the material is supposed to be breathable, it 100% will not matter if you place it on a leather chair. There is no breath-ability for the middle of the cushion since underneath it is just flat leather. This makes it so that no matter where, how I sit, no matter if I have the room cold or warm, I start to sweat in places I would not like to describe on the internet. Not so bad if I get up and walk around for a bit to let myself breath, but if I continue to sit and game like I usually do, the middle of the cushion gets soaked in sweat and just gets mildly uncomfortable. I do not really have the money to buy a new chair so it is something I just have to live with for now I suppose. I have had this for over a month so please Purple do not comment and tell me that I can get a refund if I desire, I cannot.”

The Double Seat Cushion does provide more padding for longer comfortable sitting. Have washed the cover once so far and it was a simple process. When the item arrives, it will need to be aired out for a day or more as it is still giving off some odor from the manufacturing process. It will stop producing an odor so give it time.”

“TLDR: it folds over after a bit but you can just turn it the opposite direction and its still way better than just sitting on whatever you normally sit on. Would recommend to anyone that has to sit for long periods of time. I really like this cushion, and use it on my office chair every day. The only thing I would change somehow is how it buckles. It may just be the nature of how it works but instead of local buckling the whole thing just tends to lean forward, reducing the amount of actual relief. I just stand up and turn it 180 degrees, but optimally I wouldn't have to do that. I think it would be fine if there was somehow a way to make the sides rigid to prevent it from all folding, but I'm not sure how you would do that.”

This tends to bend the waffles so they lay flat, which defeats the purpose of the this cushion. If I sit straight up and down on it, it's fine, but then I don't have back support. The dimensions would be a great fit if my office chair actually fit me. However, the length of the chair comes too far behind my knees and when the cushion doesn't go out that far, that doesn't work. For my 6'2" colleague, the chair is fine, so again, the cushion wouldn't have worked for him. (Employer is not buying a new chair for me.) So for some circumstances, this could be a really nice comfy cushion.”

Great for a forklift driver

A wheelchair’s best friend

“I’ve been an amputee for 32 years and my mobility is slowing as I age, requiring more use of my wheelchair. I had just purchased the Purple Hybrid 2 mattress (love it) a couple of months earlier and rolled the dice that I’d like Purple seat cushions. I don’t like them - I absolutely love them! The Double, Royal, and Simply cushions fit a standard wheelchair seat beautifully. The only downside, for me anyway, is that the non-skid bottom isn’t really all that great, at least for me. Easily remedied with a 15x17” piece of thick non-skid shelf paper. The slippage may also be partially due to the surface of the wheelchair seat so I won’t knock it down a star. I have 4 wheelchairs - all 4 are now set up with Purple cushions. My primary wheelchair has the Double cushion, 2 moderately used wheelchairs have the Royal cushion, 1 occasionally used has the Simply cushion, but all 4 have the back cushion. A bit pricy, but those of us who use wheelchairs extensively want supportive comfort. Thus far I have been exceedingly pleased and my physical therapist even thinks they are great too. Not sure if it’s for you? Roll the dice - you’ll know if it’s for you pretty quickly and if not it’s a free return.”

Comfortable but slides

“I'm so happy to have this double cushion now. I've been working through covid on a cheap office chair. My lower back feels much better now. The only thing I wish was different was how the cushion is always sliding forward. I was able to sort of counter that by getting the cover handles around the chair arms in a creative way but it still shifts really easy, it just no longer falls. Also, my bottom still hurts when I sit with my legs propped up for too long. It makes me have to bend my knees to my chest and readjust the bottom so my weight shifts forward instead of reclined. I guess I was thinking I could sit on it different ways and still be comfortable. Either way, it's much better that it was and the little lower back pillow is a nice touch. I'm not thinking about pain all day. I'm just getting work done.”

We've had the Purple Hybrid Premiere mattress for about a year now and have experienced a significant reduction in back pain since we made the switch from using traditional mattresses. The upside (and sometimes downside lol) is that it's so comfy we can stay in bed much longer now. :) We topped this off by also getting the SoftStretch Pillowcase Set and Sheets. We also purchased 2 of the Double Seat Cushions since we're working from home full-time now and they've also helped alleviate some of our back pain from sitting at our desks for long hours. I bought my dad a seat cushion too since he started working from home as well. Then I gifted my seat cushion to my mom since she didn't have one and loved it so much they were sharing the one cushion. Finally, I bought myself another seat cushion to replace the one I gifted and also purchased the back cushion. Our backs have never been happier. Great experience. It's also notable to mention that we had first purchased the Purple Hybrid mattress and although my husband liked it, it wasn't soft enough for me. Purple sent someone to pick up the first mattress and then dropped it off to be recycled at the Furniture Bank in our city, a nonprofit who cleans and recycles mattresses and donates them to families in need that have lost homes to natural disasters, or who need the support during other hardships. Our new Hybrid Premiere mattress was then shipped to our home. The exchange was made at no additional cost to us. Grateful for this whole experience as it all happened in the middle of the pandemic. Now I've bought one for my mother who is almost 100% sedentary due to Multiple Sclerosis, and it makes a world of difference. Sometimes the back of the cushion flattens down, but that is just a matter of repositioning - voila! It springs back with the same support intact - unlike all the others. I'm guessing it's made of silicone or something - so, unlike foam, it does not squash flat. Next up - Purple mattresses! I'm sure they're the best. Not expensive either.”

“I haven't owned this seat cushion long enough to know how it will hold up longterm, but based on using it for 2-3 weeks, I have noticed a tremendous improvement. I used to suffer from tailbone pain from sitting for long hours, and since I've started using this seat cushion my pain has gone down drastically. I use the cushion in my office chair which is already padded, but does not offer a whole lot of support by itself. What really strikes me now is that if I sit in the chair by itself, the chair's cushion feels like a hard wood surface compared to the support that the Purple cushion offers. I would highly recommend this product for people who suffer from chronic tailbone pain or who have to sit for several hours at a time.”

“This is a good cushion and I bought it after having our purple mattress for a year due to back pain in my office chair. It has definitely helped remove the pain and I can't be without it now. The only thing that I wish was that it was a bit thicker. When all of your body weight is on one spot, it really smushes down. An extra inch would help give more rigidity to the purple grid. 2" is just a bit too thin. There is also an issue on the corners where the grid sticks to itself leaving the edge relatively flat and unsupportive. I would still buy this but it's not nearly as amazing as the mattress. For the price I paid, I had a bit of a higher expectation. I guess once you try the mattress the bar is set pretty high for everything else Purple has.”

“I WFH now and also like to game, craft, or have other tech related hobbies that might have me sitting half the time at an adjustable standing desk. I really appreciate the support there in a Secret Lab 2020 chair that has great posture support with all the extra pads removed. I wanted this too for long road trips. The greatest car seat in the world isn't going to be this nice and I have driven the lengths in one sitting that would make any midwesterner proud. I don't think I will turn on the seat warmer unless Purple comes out and says they have tested it and it won't deteriorate the Purple Seat Cushion, but the car better have decent climate control for a long ride so I probably won't miss the seat warmer anyway. I'm not sure I could make it if I was somewhere that needed the seat warmer on the entire trip, I think I would have turned back or rethink what I am doing. Having this thing and the cover in hand it doesn't make me think I would take it to an outdoor environment or even a stadium seat. It is kinda heavy and goodness a good priced luxury that I wouldn't want to bother my friends with watching if I needed to walk away from it. I don't think I would even use it in my garage while working on projects because I don't think the cover was made for that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I am woodworking-ish or watching a laser work for long periods to make sure it doesn't catch on fire. I don't think it was meant to be in that kind of space where it could catch a nail. I think the smaller Purple Seat Cushion options advertised for that stadium/outdoor scenario are made a little tougher or easier to handle. I vote to1 invest in the technology because it is nice to be comfortable wherever you are sitting. We are liking our Purple Hybrid Premier 4"" mattress so far during our trial period. It feels like a luxury and a lot of my back pain is different, but I probably better. Appreciate the financing options and overall experience with chat agent to answer my questions. I realized way later that I wasn't following the prompts correctly, but the agent was able to help me through the process another way and it was super experience that took no time at all. I think it is nuts I could change my mind no problem even during Covid. Great experience so far and I think the step in experience of buying the Purple Seat Cushion first and being sold on the tech first was nice. Made it easy to decide if I wanted a mattress because we were due for it anyway, and a friend really liked their Purple Mattress. I like it a lot better than foam which can get hot - boom - long car ride with no swamp seat making you regret all your life choices - just the right amount. When my seating needs get exotic I really like the Autonomous adjustable stool and desk - with that in mind - it might be rad to get a universal stool cushion wrap thing that secures pretty confidently for another seating option enhancement. If there was a breathable material that was flame resistant and could survive a shop environment I would be all over that. There has to be a clever way to have a cord securing cord system that does a 4 leg shop stool and a single post stool, no clue on the feasibility of any of this. I just kept writing. It is a 60watt laser, and it has so much surface area to collect dust. Like what if on the off chance I actually use this thing again, and I'm adjusting mirrors like a monkey and it nails the cushion with laser beams. It's probably gonna burn a little or a spark of hot something is going to get on it because I'm negligent. That is all fair play here and I'll probably be buying more purple things like I mean it regardless.”

“Like many people, I had to quickly assemble a new work setup when the stay at home orders were first issued last year. Getting an office chair was out of the question because I live in a studio apartment and didn't have enough space. I tried to get by using small pillows and blankets to support my back and cushion my bottom, but it didn't do much to lessen my discomfort. My Purple seat and back cushion are great and have helped to lessen the neck, back, and shoulder I was experiencing. I appreciate the anti-slip coating on the bottom of the seat cushion. I do wish the back cushion had a stronger strap/support. It's weight causes it to sag when attached to a chair. Still think the gel cushion is great.”

“I love the cushion overall. I sit at my desk for sometimes 12-14 hours at a time and it is hard on my back and bottom. This has helped. Downside is that I wish it was the size of the office chair. I find that if I put it the direction it is supposed to go and back far enough then my legs tend to fall asleep because the cushion ends before the seat and it is an uncomfortable position for your legs after a while. If I move it forward then my bottom is hanging over and that is uncomfortable. I have turned it the other way (longways) and that length works but it is narrow and tends to slide around the chair. I just wish it was larger.”

Indeed, I was starting to suffer serious physical discomfort, until I maneuvered my Purple pillow awkwardly onto my chair. I'm a mostly happy owner of Purple pillows--a most admirable product but designed neither for the chair nor the derriere. Internet research uncovered that [surprise!] the Purple seat cushion received high marks all around. I'm sitting on it now. The Purple seat cushion certainly fits better and supports better than my Purple pillow did. It doesn't fit perfectly since the seat of my chair isn't rectangular. I sometimes position it lengthwise and sometimes widthwise. Neither is perfect. That said, it's made a huge difference in my ability to sit comfortably while I work at my home desk. So while sitting at my desk or in my car for extended amount of time just made the pain worse. After awhile of not aggravating those pressure points my back isnt dealing with those pains anymore. I give it 5 stars on recommending it to those with lower back pain from sitting. “I really enjoy the Purple cushion and how it has improved my comfort level during the workday now that I spend all day at my computer. The only reason I dropped it down a star is because it's quite large and doesn't fit that well in my desk chair. I considered my options when so purchased to order one that is smaller in size but almost all of them are similar in size except a small difference. And to get one that fit my chair, I would have to drop down to one that doesn't have the same extended comfort expectation. Luckily it still "fits" with some overhang - I just have to regularly adjust it to keep it in the right place. Great buy though!”

Its held up by one strap that supports the products weight (it is not light), and you have to fight an adjustment cord and buckle it in. “Perfect cushion! The double cushion delivered on 4/28 & I have kept it as a secret gift for my mother for mother's day today 5/10. During that time span, I washed the cushion ONCE in dish washing soap, added a few drops of tea tree oil (I add that to everything I wash) and let it soak the duration of a washing machine cycle (while the cover was in the washer) to help with the chemical smell. Then I let it dry and sprayed the cushion with febreeze about 3 times over the week. No chemical smell! Smells great now and my mother is so very happy and relieved, she says the cushion distributes her weight and takes pressure off of her tail bone.”

I live in Florida, so wear shorts every day; there is a tag on the cover that rubs the back/side of my thigh to the point that I had to flip it over. It works so well that I bought a second, one to leave in the office, and one to leave at home. It's physically heavy, so you likely won't want to be dragging it around too much, but its completely worth it, and it probably doesn't matter, anyway, since you probably, like me, will have it in one place most of time. Purple Seat Cushions have changed my life

“I have suffered with sacroiliac joint pain since a car accident in 2011. I have been through more pain management procedures than I can count and even had my sacroiliac joint fused, but the pain persisted. From 2011 to 2022 (when I found Purple) I couldn't even sit on a normal chair or couch; I was using a kids' "bungee" chair because it was the only thing I could find that didn't cause unbearable pain. I had tried at least 20 seat cushions between 2011 and 2022 (including some Purple-like gel cushion "knock offs"), and none of them helped my pain at all. Finally in 2022 I went to a nearby Purple store and purchased both the Double Cushion and the Simply Seat Cushion. I can honestly say that these cushions have changed my life. I use them everywhere I sit - the car, the couch, the dinner table, airports, airplanes - you name it! I threw the bungee chair in the garbage and have been able to sit on my couch like a normal human for the past 3 years! So thank you, Purple, for restoring some normalcy to this chronic pain sufferer. You have no idea the difference you have made in my life.”

Not what I expected

“I selected this seat cushion after I had ordered a mattress and sheets for which I was satisfied. It was ordered to use in my recliner, in which I sit about six hours per day. The double siding is of no use, because the cushion is too heavy to flip during the day. I was very disappointed in the quality of the cover. I am using it, and it is comfortable , but not as described.”
