Possible glass defect?

“Beware. I have had a 5 shelf unit for several years and last week one of the glass shelves exploded. The glass popped for several days like Mexican jumping beans. I will be calling the manufacturer next week. I love this item, but it did not even have anything on the shelf and it exploded….”
