Paper pulp table top, parts missing, customer service is blah.

“Extremely thin veneer is on the top AND on the underside of the table. What looks like wood just isn't. Packaging for the table is just awful. They staple webbing straps to the underside of the table (see photo) to hold the legs box. Getting that webbing off is a pain in the *ss because they use 6 - 8 staples to attach each of the ends of the webbing straps. The staples break before they release, leaving sharp edges everywhere...try with pliers. As for the chairs, I'm waiting on the missing bolts and screws to come, and who knows when? And why am I having to assemble it anyway?? Since I purchased this set on Ashley Furniture online (my bad) there was no way to get my local store to assemble it and deliver. I asked Ashley online and I called the store and nope. It all arrives in 'flat packs' by FedEx. I'm thinking shouldn't this ship to the local store and they assemble it and schedule it for delivery?? I'll pay the fees. Oh no. Nope. And I can see why they wouldn't want to. Good on them.
My biggest peeve is the paper pulp table top, because they purposely hid it by adding thin wood veneer on the underside of the table. I should have gone with my instinct and avoided Ashley Furniture. I'd say it's money down the drain because I can't see how this table could last, and as for the chairs I'd say the bolts-and-washers assembly type does not make for a long lasting chair. It's money down the drain. I should have waited to get real furniture, as in a vintage set when things were made well. I have included a photo of a piece of their scrap they used to reinforce the packaging of my table. As soon as I saw that scrap I knew my table top was paper pulp, and yep as soon as I began removing the staples from the underside of the table the extremely thin veneer peeled up. I feel duped. I wouldn't mind it if they were honest about it to begin with, but nowhere in the listing description does it say paper pulp.”

“The color of the table looks completely different in person than in the pictures, it’s a greenish grey. I had it for a week and the top of the table tarted chipping off and a sliver of wood came off. Not happy with the quality for the price.”
