The only negative thing I have to say about them is the chairs aren’t flush with the table when pushed in if a bench is used or there are chairs on outside edge. Other than that, we have no real complaints so far”

The top wood is soft and scratches easily. Not so great for a kitchen table, especially when you have kids. A pre-installed screw fell out of the seat a few days in, and when we put it back, it started trying to go through the seat itself. Not what you want for the amount of money you spend. “Years ago (before Ashley had it’s own stores) I bought this almost same table. It held up wonderfully, and was well made. Finally after many years the table top was accidentally damaged. I liked it so well, I bought another. Well, this table is not made nearly as well. The legs aren’t as heavy. The table is glued when the other was screwed together with heavier wood. The apron is smaller and thinner. The top is much more easily scratched. Placemats are a must. Even a heavy salt and pepper shaker left a type of smudge scratch. It looks good, not very well made, but the price is after all, very reasonable. Still I would have liked to have the table be the same quality of the previous one purchased. Both the old and the new were purchased for use in my kitchen. The table top needs a clear coating to help the finish hold up.”

“It's a decent table. Not the sturdiest out there and the wood seems soft. I wouldn't dare stand on it and I suggest carefully placing items on it. It's probably a good idea to buy a plastic or glass top. It was easy to put together but it really should be moved by 2 people. Not because it's too heavy but because you really might rip off a side panel or break a leg off if you're not careful. Honestly though, treat it carefully and I can see this table lasting a long time. I'll probably be using it for years to come. It looks great and I'll try to keep it that way. Just on shipping. It was delivered quickly. But the box was handled roughly. I could tell it was walked on and there were 2 punctures on the box that exposed the wood slightly. Whatever it was hit with very well could have damage the table with a bit more force applied. Luckily it made it unscathed but I have read several other reviews claiming the table arrived damaged. It's a possibility. But this is unrelated to the table itself.”

“After several months of looking at dinning room tables, I settled on Ashley's Owingsville dining room table. The size for a small family is right. The price is right. As for the QUALITY? Unfortunately, I am not able to say the same. It has been in my dinning room ONE month and the top is already covered scratches and small gouges. (There are no children in the household ... only two adults sit at the table.) I noticed in an earlier description it was said to be made of "select hardwood". That is a misnomer. I'm rather disappointed.”

“We were looking for a dining room set that would blend well with our existing buffet, which is also black/brown. And this table and chairs does. Our dining and living rooms are open to each other, and the wood tone table top and chair seats go very well with our living room tables and pulls it all together. I was a little intimidated by it requiring assembly, but my husband and I assembled it in a short amount of time. It looks great and functions well for our family, most notably when my son and his family visited for Easter. It's great. I love it!”
