“This is a great style throughout, but it has no longevity and there are several problems. We started having issues about a year after buying this set. The distressed finish is achieved through manufactured wood thin laminate pieces placed over compressed wood fiber. You can't clean the table with any cleaners, including ones for wood. Otherwise the super thin satin clear finish will come off. IF you spill any liquid or leave glasses on the table with moisture condensation, if it gets in the cracks between the strips of laminate, the edges of the laminate will allow the liquid to get in between the cracks so the wood underneath absorbs the liquid causing it to swell up underneath the strips. It never goes back down to its flat orientation afterward, so we have a few of these "bumps" in our table at the seams. Once the laminate starts coming up, the edges of each strip are exposed and prone to being worn down so that the distressed finish gets removed and the true sand-like color of the manufactured wood is revealed, which doesn't match the color of the rest of the top. The screws in the chairs keep coming out because the screws are not long enough to stay securely in the bottom of the seat of the chairs. I've had to find and use different screws to properly secure most of the chairs in our set. The chair legs are also prone to getting wobbly very easily (screws loosening), and one of our chair legs split at the top of the leg where it was attached to the seat. The rough distressed finish of the chairs makes them really hard to clean due to the grooves. The upholstery fabric is also a texture that is really difficult to clean. We ended up having to buy covers for the upholstered area after trying to clean spots several times that would never come out. I will never again buy any dining set that has any kind of manufactured wood or fake materials. I plan to sand the bubbles out of the top and use furniture markers to color the raw wood fiber, then polyurethane the heck out of the top so it's a smoother surface which will be more protected. Adding a glass sheet would also greatly help to protect the finish of the top. But for the price of this set and the fact we've only had this table a few years, it's ridiculous. The set is so impractical for regular use. Ashley in general is terrible for any product that contains fake wood. We had similar issues with some painted coffee/end tables we bought that I also need to repair, which started chipping after one year.”

“I love my new dining table and chairs. They are very heavy and seem pretty sturdy. The chairs were a little tricky to put together. The instructions were not real clear about what to put together first but we made it work. We took several days to get it all put together. I am sure it would not take others that long but I have major back problems. The only gripe I have is the finish on the table top. It scratches off easily like it has only a thin coat of color so be warned. I would definitely recommend this set as long as you are careful with the top. Others may need to keep it covered if they have small kids. I love it and it looks great in my new beach house!”

“Simple, but elegant design, akin to Shaker-style furniture. Well-made with close tolerances among the parts. Chairs and table fit together solidly, no wobble. A very reasonably priced set that we use in the dining area of the kitchen. The grayish-white distressed finish makes the room look bright. The cushions are not as soft as we'd like, but far better than a solid wood seat. All in all, couldn't be more pleased.”

“If you have kids HARD PASS. You know kids tend to spill so between that and cleaning the table is warped and chip. Very cheap material. Mind you I’ve only had this table for 6 month! I would understand normal ware and tare after a year or two but nope within 6 months! Super disappointed! For 700$ could’ve got two tables at Walmart and they still would’ve outlasted this one!”
