“The bed was well packaged and arrived quickly and in great shape - it looks great and was very easy to put together - why the low rating then? The bed slats are totally useless - I have never seen any slats that narrow - and there are only 3 of them for a king size bed - when I was a kid I had a twin bed and there were more slats on it and they were wider! These slats are very flimsy and the leg supports going to the floor in the middle of each are just as flimsy - when we put the mattress and box springs on it and laid down the very first time two of the leg supports actually popped completely loose! Just the weight of the mattress and box springs had those two slats sagging very badly - I immediately went to Lowes and bought 1×4s and 2×4 stud - I cut the slats to fit and cut the 2×4 up for leg supports - problem solved - I know this is a very inexpensive bed but I spent $20.00 for materials - the amount you buy would cost what $10.00? Very Very disappointed that I had to fix this problem on my own at my expense - didn't bother even contacting you because at most you would what - replace flimsy material with more flimsy material?”

I've never owned a sleigh bed but it's a good style and one which I won't get bruised when running into the footboard. It was easy to build with one exception: the screws on the crossboards were close to the border and this took elaborate contortion to get them in straight. Looks very nice and matches our mahogany side tables.”

We read the other reviews that stated that the three slats provided were insufficient so hubs bought three boards in advance from a big box store. He measured and cut the slats after the delivery crew assembled the bed frame. We had no trouble placing our air bed box springs and mattress on the frame, they are so light and easy to handle. Great price for a king size bed frame. Not fancy but we’re not fancy folks so that’s ok.”

“We loved our Alisdair King Bed! However, the king bed only came with 3 1x1 slats... To support a king mattress plus 2 people. We'd had the bed together for less than a day and I sat on the edge to put on my socks, and one of the 1x1 slats splintered. So we got 5 2x6s and created slats, and used 4x4 posts cut to size for the "feet". Went a little overkill on ours, but do keep in mind getting this bed that you will need to prepare to replace the "in the box" supports for the bed. Still, 4 stars because we love it!”

“Came with three 1” slats for the entire bed so the mattress could not lay flat on the bed, it was lumpy and not possible to lay on. Holes for screws were cut incorrectly which made it near impossible to screw screws in without breaking the wood.”

“Agree with other reviews that the support slats are quite flimsy. The screw hold actually snapped out of one when I was assembling it. Originally we were shipped king size side rails but queen headboard and footboard. While this ended up being resolved, it was very inconvenient. Overall, the bed is fine and looks nice. A very strange thing, however, is that the design does not allow any extra room at the head and foot in order to fit your hand in to pull the sheets and tuck them sufficiently.”
