“This bed is great for the price especially since it comes with a headboard. I did take one star away because the of the difficulty in assembling the bed. The other reviews were correct about the difficulty in assembling the bed frame. The measurements were off so when putting the boards together. The holes in the boards do not align together. You’re left with the options of bending the screw or creating a new whole. The new hole would be close to the original hole so you risk creating one giant hole and now the screw doesn’t fit. My husband bend the screw and it worked. Another thing to note is that you absolutely do need a box spring. This bed frame is not created to support just a mattress. Other than that the bed looks great. I would recommend!”

“I have to be honest the sale price really attracted me to this bed plus it’s a nice looking bed. I did have a few hiccups while putting the bed together but I was able to resolve them with no issue. The instructions are straight forward. If you are having any hesitation about putting it together rest assured that if I can do it trust me you can do it to. I have to say this bed is really sturdy. I was surprised. My only issue is I’m unable to put my shoe storage case underneath the bed due to how low the bed sides are. But that’s nothing a few bed risers can’t fix. That’s the only reason why I didn’t give it five stars. All in all I have to say I am very satisfied with my purchase and I would definitely recommend it. If you are struggling with deciding to buy it, here’s your sign to get it. You’ll be happy you did.”

“I’m very pleased with the Queen Dolante Upholstered Bed. The color will coordinate with well with other furniture pieces. It’s a perfect neutral. I put it together in about an hour and a half. Definitely recommend this bed. I only ordered a 12 inch mattress and 3 inch mattress pad but after seeing how low the wood slats sit, I’ll need to get a box springs also. The low height was a bit unexpected. The bed wasn’t delivered to my door or left under a covered area. Storms were expected within a couple of hours of delivery and I just happened to see a huge box at my apartment complex on the ground floor and am glad I checked to see if it had my name on it. I didn’t receive an expected delivery date or a delivery confirmation via email. I’m just glad I caught it before the storms hit otherwise, it would have been ruined. I needed help getting it up the stairs because of the heavy weight. Just sharing my experience so others can be prepared. Otherwise, I’m a super happy camper and you can’t beat the price.”

“This queen bed was purchased for a Guest room. The color is a cooler beige (as opposed to a yellowy beige) which is perfect. It does have a smell when unpackaged, I am assuming the glue or foam inside of it. It's been 5 days, and the smell is starting to go away. I'm certain it will eventually off gas and not smell at all after another 3-4 days. The assembly took me about 90 minutes, I did it myself with no help. It's very sturdy. In the photo, we are using a 9" box spring and a 14" mattress (some may find that info helpful). I think I could have gone with a 5" low box spring, but the higher bed isn't bad. The shipping was SO FAST. I think I ordered it on a Saturday from the website and it was delivered on Monday!”

“I have had this bed for about three weeks now and overall I love it! I was looking for something affordable with a high headboard. A lot of beds in this price range advertise high headboards but they actually sit pretty low where the pillows cover it. This one did not disappoint. Assembly was fairly easy. I did most of it myself. Some of the instructions were vague but common sense got me through. I did hit my foot a few times on the black legs so that was a pain but not a deal breaker as I haven’t done it in a while now (lesson learned) Pretty sturdy as well. I did think that the texture would be more of that smooth suede material and it’s more of a woven texture but I didn’t read the description but if you’re like me going mainly off of the picture make sure you check that you’re okay with more texture. Overall I love it. I recommend it!”

“This a very nice cheap bed. Obviously with it being so cheap, don't expect it to be very sturdy. Or go together at all. We had 2 screws that support the weight of the bed not fit because the holes were drilled wrong. This should have taken at most an hour to set up, but took us twice as long because of the alterations we had to make to it. Some instructions are not very clear on what way certain pieces are supposed to face. Once all of your alterations are complete, don't expect the head board to be extremely sturdy unless directly against a wall.”

We have had it assembled for months, used vinegar, baking soda, febreze, and other deodorizing products, as well as leaving fan on and windows open. The bed still stinks. As the weather gets warmer and more humid the odor is stronger.I called customer service and the only option is to donate the bed and I will get a refund. This has been a huge hassle, and now we have to go through the ordeal of disassembling and donating the bed and then we are back at square one and we need a new bed. I will never purchase from Ashley again”

“let's start with the smell! two months later it still had an unpleasant heavy smell. It was easy to assemble but the materials are cheap and some of the legs were already bending a month into using the bed. The worst part about the bed is that I bought a mattress from Ashley and it was too small! I also bought a spring box as it is needed for this product and it does NOT fit a standard size queen spring box or mattress as the bed frame is too big and it just moves from side to side. This is bigger than a standard queen-size bed frame and nowhere it said that even if you buy the mattress from Ashley as well, the bed frame is a few inches bigger.”

There are 3 flimsy wood slats to support the box spring/mattress. We added 3 more slats from our old bed just for security and the bed is still wobbly. The two legs on the side of the bed bend whenever we sit on the bed. We're not heavy people. I purchased the warranty, but what's the point? They're just going to replace it with another piece of garbage. I'm just so disappointed because my entire home is furnished with Ashley furniture and I have not experienced this before. It didn't, there is something wrong with the sizes of this bed, there is a huge gap on all sides including the front, when I asked the delivery/assembly guy, he said that's the way these beds are. “The bed is beautiful, the shipping was fast. However, the packaging needs to be improved. Mine came in only a cardboard box, no foam to protect it and when I received it the box had lots of large holes and one side was no longer taped and could just slide out. On the back under the rest of the items a piece of press board had cracked but was fixable with some wood glue. Probably should also be more than 1 UPS guy lifting this as he was struggling to get it out of the truck and lift it.”

We have a split queen box spring so we left the space in the middle of the two box springs so the space wasn’t on the edges. Highly recommend for the price and the quality!!”

My only issue was one screw had some kind of glue over the top so I was unable to use the wrench. Had to screw it in my hand the best I could. Looks wonderful in my bedroom. I’m a whole lotta woman and it seems fairly sturdy when I sleep on it. Can’t beat the price!”

Horrible smell!

“I bought this a couple days ago. Putting it together was the least of my concerns. And the fact one of the wood pieces on the head board was broken and there was a black stain on the lower part of the bed and one of the buttons are coming undone. I could bypass all that, the one major thing I can’t is the outgassing smell this bed gives off. It’s over bearing! I share a room with my daughter and we both feel sick to our stomachs and taste it in our mouths not to mention the headaches I’ve been getting. I read in previous reviews people can still smell it after a month. I think I may need to return it now. There is no way I can get used to it. I usually don’t write reviews, but I had to on this one. I ordered a different bed from Ashley, for my daughter and that one didn’t have a smell to it. As nice as this bed looks I wouldn’t recommend this bed.”

Weak bed frame and screws were stripped

The odor went away but when we were putting the bed frame together we noticed that some of the screws were already stripped. Today the side frame piece broke off when I sat on it and when we removed the mattress to figure out why, we noticed that the middle wood pieces that were supposed to hold the middle bars up were gone and the side had bent. Would not recommend purchasing this frame. It was cheaply made and did not hold up as expected.”

“I got this bed yesterday. It was easy to set-up and the parts fitted perfectly. The quality of the parts is good(keeping in mind the price). Only complaint is, there is no way you can perfectly place mattress on just three wooden planks(I sat on the corner of the bed and down went the mattress in the gap. FYI my mattress is 12 inch thick - Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch Green Tea Mattress, Queen ). I will definitely have to shed some extra bucks to get the required support under mattress. I did read all the reviews before buying this bed but surprisingly only 1-2 reviews had the complaint I have now and thought it might be okay as majority of the reviews were good.”

Most of the time was spent figuring out which screws were which based off of the instructions because the packages were notlabeled. All screws and holes matched up perfectly and I didnt have any problems with missing pieces. When I originally ordered the bed it came slashed and ripped but I talked to customer service and they had UPS come pick the bed up the next day and I had a new perfectly perfect product within 5 days of the pick up. 100% recommend.”

Frame is too big for the mattresses

“I don't know why but the frame that holds the mattress is 2 1/2" too big so you either have a big hole between your king box springs or both sides of the frame. I could understand making it an inch bigger but not 2 1/2" inches. All of the screws were oily so we kept washing our hands so we didn't get it on the fabric. I would recommend having 3 people and one of them put the screws in while the others hold the fabric portions.”

Easy assembly!

All the smaller parts were stored inside a large zipper pocket on the back of the headboard and the assembly itself was pretty simple. I did it all myself and only needed on person at the end to help hold the big part to put together. The bed is gorgeous!”

“When the price seems too good to be true- it is. At least in this case. The other reviews warned of difficult assembly, but having had a lot of experience, we thought we would be the exception. False. It took 3 full hours, and it still isn't fully fitting together correctly. This is a cheap piece of junk. If it hadn't taken so much time and effort to put together, we would have already returned it. It looks nice if you don't get too close, but it's not going to last long. Also, it is too large for a standard mattress and box spring, which leaves a large gap between the frame and the mattress. You will need to have an extra large comforter to be able to cover the gap.”

I was able to assemble this bed from that point on, by myself (with my toddler's help, need to give him credit) and it came out pretty good. It came in a super heavy but well organized box (all the parts are stored behind the headboard in a zipped compartment.) The assembly did take some time and the directions were a tad vague because there were no labels on the parts but if you take your time it's not too hard to figure out (my hubby and brother in-law and I assembled it in a few hours.) The finished look is so gorgeous, it looks like we spent $1,000! The quality is great and the look is better. Can't believe the price. We absolutely love this bed and we recommend it!! “I bought this bed for my guest bedroom and absolutely love the look of it! It's very neutral yet a perfect and striking centerpiece when decorated! It's very sturdy as well and well made. All the parts were nice materials and I like how they packaged everything in the back of the headboard for transit - cool concept and makes for easy transit! Reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars: one of the legs I attached to the headboard came with green mold on it. It took me quite a while to scrub it off with Shout and by the time I was done, the material was slightly distressed from scrubbing. Despite the great quality, that was pretty disappointing - should've been stored better I think to prevent mold. Also, although putting it together was pretty straight forward, it took a long time (4 hours) because you are assembling it from scratch and none of the parts (screws) are labeled. Mind you, I assembled it by myself, with one other person it probably would've taken half as long. Once it's together, you realize how easy it was, but it still took me a long time. Lastly, it's more of a dark beige than a light beige as advertised. I still like it a lot, but expected a lighter color. Overall though, it's a terrific looking bed for a great price with sturdy materials and came packaged nicely and well protected - I recommend! I bought the matching nightstands from the advertisement as well, and they match perfectly and look stunning together!”

I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews saying it was hard to put together but ordered anyways since the price was so great. I can't comment on how it is to put together because i had someone else do it for me but they said it was not much harder than any other bed set up. Quality is great. Looks just as it does in the photos. Only negative thing i have to say is the smell. I'm sure this is with any furniture but i guess because this is a fabric it's holding better. The smell it gives off first out of the box is a little strange. Going on two weeks now and it still hasn't went away so hoping it will die down eventually. Overall the best purchase I've made recently! Recommend!”

Love the bed, hassel with shipment and assembly

“Love the bed once I received it and was able to put it together. It's really pretty and I can't wait to by more pieces to go with it. Had some issues with shipping and putting it together was not fun. First, it only has an allen wrench to screw everything together. Highly recommend a power tool that uses allen wrenches of this size. You'll thank me later ;) Also, the parts were not labeled, so to determine the correct size of each screw was hard. It only gave you the size of each one, but did not mark the bags. Not everyone is good with screw sizes by looking at them. And lastly, the loctite stuff on the end of each screw was caked on and made it super difficult to screw them all the way in. By the time I finally completed the assembly, my thumb and pointer finger were so sore and swollen. This is why I recommend a power tool. Again, love the bed, assembly just sucked!! (lack of a better word).”

“(A genuine review!) My husband put this together for my 14 year-old's room. He said it was a lot of steps to put together and took approximately 3 hours. He's a perfectionist. He said this would have gone a lot faster with a power drill w/ Allen wrench. (?) In any case, it is beautiful and the price was exceptional. It's reasonably sturdy (barring a bunch of girls jumping on the bed, it will last a very, very long time) and elegant. One minor issue is that it smelled like fish when we unpacked it. I suspect it was placed on a cargo ship from the orient. It has been 3 weeks. I spray Fabreeze on it 2 times a week and the smell is almost completely gone. Also, can't lie, we have stubbed our toes several times but we'll wrap the legs or be more careful. This bed transformed really her room and is a FABULOUS bargain.”

“This bed is very VERY low, make sure to get a foundation if you don’t have a huge mattress (my mattress is about 10 inches and there was still a pretty big gap between the mattress and where the headboard starts). Also be sure to have a drill handy as some of the wholes are NOT aligned properly. Aside from that I think the bed is pretty decent”

I ended up going to the hardware store, getting some support boards to ensure nothing nothing would give out. Not a huge deal but not convenient either. Based on my limited searches this is a good price for a nice frame but you might need more slats than it offers.”

The worst thing about this transaction was the (usual) incompetence of FedEx on the delivery. Their information is often wrong and the box looked as if it went through a grinder. Fortunately, the contents were not damaged, but that was sheer luck! We have had similar issues in the past with FedEx, and have decided to never again make a purchase if they are the only source of delivery. Their incompetence made you look bad in our eyes!”

“The bedframe is larger than it looked online which was a pleasant surprise, but i took off one star for the way the bed arrived to me (with a hole on the backside). I was tempted to call and ask for a replacement but after lugging that heavy thing up my stairs with the help of a friend… I knew there was no way I’d be able to lug it back down alone. I took off another star because the bed smells HEAVILY of wood… it’s BAD… I’m not sure how long the smell will linger but it’s almost intolerable, which seemed odd to me because there wasn’t even visibly that much wood!! Overall though, good bed. I was able to put it together by myself in under two hours. We’ll see how it holds up over time!”
