“We bought this bed 3 years ago and have been very happy with it. It's beautiful to look upon, comfortable and sturdy. My husband doesn't like the way modern beds are often so high that you have to climb onto them, so we didn't put a box spring on it, just a 'bunky board' with a nice soft Ashley gel foam mattress on top, and this makes it exactly the right height for sitting on when you put on your socks. I require a pretty soft bed and it's very comfortable with the bunky board instead of foundation. But you could put a foundation if you wanted to and didn't mind pole vaulting onto the bed. Now, I want to mention the headboard carvings are very grandiose and the foot posts have a marble capstone. The side rails make a bedskirt unnecessary, for your quilt will reach down just to the side rail. It gives a substantial and grand appearance. PS the nightstands and dressers are lovely too.”
