Affordable comfort that's easy to fit weirdly shaped rooms

“First off, I'm very impressed with the quality of the modmax. I feel this set will last for while especially with two young kids at home. We have a split level home, so it can be challenging to find furniture that will fit in our living room but this fits perfectly. I'm considering buying another for our downstairs basement.”

Cheap fabric quality

“I liked everything about the couch BUT the fabric. The fabric on the seat cushions is not holding up. We’re a family of 3, about to go on 2 months of having this in our home and this is what the seat cushions look like. This only 3 weeks of use on this side of the cushion. I had already flipped the seat cushions 3 weeks ago because I noticed the fabric pilling and looking ugly.”

Can't Recommend - Cushions Sag, Fabric Pills Within 6 Months

“After looking at the Modmax sofa collection in-person at the store, we purchased a custom configuration (left chaise, 2 singles, corner and 1 single) for $2.1K on 10/16/24. Even though the fabric felt nice to the touch, I asked about the rub count because I was concerned about it pilling given the fabric is poly and so was our last sofa which pilled within 5 months. The sales person had no idea what I was talking about (I need >20K for high traffic use). This collection just came out and there were no reviews onine yet. Regardless, we took the risk and purchased it anyway because we desperately needed a new sofa and are options are limted due to the small size of our room (we need an L shaped sofa that is less than 130" wide and the part needs to be less then 70" deep). Today is 9/24/25 and the cushions have sunk/broken down quite badly to the point that it feels like I'm sitting on the base (I flip them regularly, move them around) and the cushion cover fabric has pilled terribly so I have blankets covering the seats to try to prevent further pilling. We do use our sofa a lot - anywhere from 2-4 hours per day - and we take naps/sleep on it but it's just three of us with no kids or dogs. I'm a 110 lb woman and my partner is 170 lb man so I feel like the cushion inserts and the fabric should have lasted longer then this. I really wanted this to be the final sofa we purchased but it's been a big disappointment. I'm going to contact Ashley to see if I can purchase replacement cushion inserts and covers.
Pros:
Fabric colors are lovely
Can configure shape to meet your room size/needs
Pieces look right in smaller rooms, don't look oversided
Seat cushions have fabric on both sides and can be flipped
Cushion covers are washable
Back of sofa provides support
Pieces don't move even though there are no connectors (we're not jumping on them though, don't have kids)
Cons:
Seat cushion inserts breakdown - I think they are just a high density foam?
Seat cushion fabric pills
Seat cushion insert cover zippers break”
