There is also a spot on the front of the chair where the nailheads didnt quite get the fabric tight and the edge of material is showing, bit nothing a little nail to tack it down wont solve.”

“I bought this recliner two years ago because I needed a smaller recliner to fit my space and this one went beautifully with the sofa and loveseat I also purchased at Ashley. It has a rustic but classic appearance and the nailhead trim matched the other pieces I purchased. It is really cozy and comfortable and I love the rocking feature. Cons: You really have to kick the foot rest pretty hard back into place when you’re ready to get up - which always makes for an awkward explanation to guests who sit in it. And I can say after two years the cushioning in the arms has degraded a good bit. I can now feel the frame/structure through the cushioning but only when I bear down on it some. It’s absolutely fine when atms are resting lightly on the chair arms.”

“This is an attractive, quality piece of furniture and it has good lower back support. However, it is more of a rocker that reclines than a recliner that rocks. Like someone else mentioned, it would be better with the mechanical arm for reclining as the footrest is inclined to go down when one of my small dogs gets in my lap and it's a concentrated effort to stay fully reclined as the chair keeps easing back up into a semi-reclined position. I knew from previous reviews that the footrest would be a problem to make lock and sure enough, I have to get up and then kick the footrest with my foot to lock it in place. All in all, I don't hate it but had I had a week or so to test it in my home, I wouldn't have purchased it. I do like that it doesn't SCREAM recliner and I don't feel like I'm being swallowed up by a huge marshmallow.”

“We bought 2 recliners and a loveseat. The recliners were not available in the store to sit in but thought the set looked really nice and we were in desperate need of the rocker/recliner combo. As soon as we got the furniture delivered it was very obvious the two chairs sat very different. My husband's sits the best, mine on the other hand feels like you have a piece of wood going through the middle of your back. We called and had them come "fix it" but there is no change in it. My husband's chair came unsewn on the footrest and they said it wasn't covered but they would fix it this time. After they replaced the fabric on his, it was back in like new condition.... but that didn't last after a month. Overall this is the worst purchase we have ever made. We don't even feel comfortable trying to resale it because the whole set is so uncomfortable.”

Style and Comfort!

“We've had this chair for a couple of days now. I was a little concerned after reading so many negative reviews, but we fell in love with it at the store, so decided to give it a try. It is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. The seat is quite a bit firmer than the one in the store, but I was expecting that since the salesperson said the floor model had been there for 3 years. It has held up beautifully in the store, so I would expect the same in my home. I know it will only get better as it gets "broken in". To address other reviews I read: We have no sensation of it tipping us forward, it is not difficult to go from reclining to sitting (I am 5'4"), the front doesn't hit the floor when you get out of it (or at least not noticeably, if so), my husband is 6'4" and feels like it fits him just fine - comfortably! We love the style and that it appears more like a chair vs. a recliner, yet comfy like a recliner. We love the chaise part when you recline, which makes it very comfortable under your calves. Great lumbar support too. We are very happy with our purchase!”

“It's hard to find a chair that both rocks and reclines, AND matches a sofa, so when I saw the Larkinhurst line I was thrilled. I purchased the recliner and the sofa via the website. I was a bit concerned about not testing the comfort level but after reading other reviews I decided to give it a shot. Another feature that sold me was the sofa cushions contain spring support instead of just foam. The recliner is very comfortable. There is a lot of padding on the back so you tend to sit up straighter, but I'm sure that will begin to compress and adjust to my body contours. You can even continue to rock with the foot rest part-way up. Terrific! The sofa is FABULOUS!!! Soft and comfy but supportive with the thick spring-loaded cushions. One of the most comfortable couches I've ever owned. The down-filled pillows are a nice touch, too! Although the description is "faux-leather" the fabric is a lovely polyester that truly looks like weathered leather, not some cheap naugahyde. I was so pleased with the set that I purchased the matching Rafferty end tables a week later.”

It will not lock into the recline position and it travels when you rock.... :( The fabric is nice and wipes clean easily.It has gotten more comfortable as time has gone by. I ordered this online feeling great about it as we have a sofa and love seat that are Ashley and they have worn beautifully.”

“The finish and appearance of this chair will probably draw compliments from anyone who sees it. It is very sharp. However the seat cushion is stiff and so are the return springs for the press-back mechanism. The chair wants to leap forward when set back. It requires physical effort to keep the chair reclined. The backrest is well padded but not tall enough for an adult male of average height. The actual shade of brown is slightly darker than shown in the company-supplied photos and also at the store, where overhead spot lights change the appearance of colors. Test it thoroughly at the store before you buy.”

“Worst craftsmanship I have ever seen. Chair is lopsided to the right when sitting in it, it tilts so far forward you have to brace with your legs to sit up straight. I bought sofa, loveseat and the rocker/recliner. When you rock the front part of the chair hits the floor. I did not get to sit in chair before it was ordered or I never would have ordered from store. Very very unhappy with this chair.”

“I loved how the recliner looked online. I trust Ashley furniture with our furniture needs so I didn't think it was necessary to go in and see the recliner in the show room. My husband insisted so we went in the recliner actually was not in the show room, but I purchased it anyway. I am not happy with the recliner it is not sturdy, and the reclining part does not lock down easily when you're getting out of the chair. Beautiful chair but dissatisfied with it overall”
