Comfortable but toxic

“I rarely bother to write reviews, but this is important. We bought a Sterns & Foster Lux Estate Soft Pillow Top several months ago and I could not be more disappointed. The VOC's (Volatile organic compound) coming off of this mattress made my husband and I so sick we could not sleep on it. We read that the chemicals used on the foams of certain mattresses can be very toxic, and could result in brain, lung cancer among others. This has to be at the very top as far as toxicity goes. We have aired this mattress for months to no avail.
Ashley in Corvallis Oregon refuses to take the mattress back and as a cancer survivor myself I urge the public to think twice about making this purchase. The sad part is that we made very clear to the salesperson the importance of a chemical free mattress and he promised that had never been an issue. Maybe people don't realize what is making them sick.”
