“I am in my mid 70's and recently ordered a full tempur adapt medium hybrid mattress for my bedroom and a 2 inch flat foundation and a tempur adapt medium hybrid mattress for the twin bed in my guest room. Both purchases were perfect. My guest room is used by an older friend with scoliosis who needed the lower height and a great mattress. I needed a great mattress due to back pain. The ONLY foundation for my Tempur-pedic mattress

“I had purchased a new bedroom set. The headboard and frame was huge, so the previous simple boards the mattress sat on before would not do. Way too much space between the bottom of headboard and top of mattress. I didn't realize that box springs were a thing of the past (and would have ruined the Tempur-pedic mattress anyway. So I tried those framed box ("box springs) which are just a framed wooden box with wooden pieces going across and vertically. They may work for some mattresses I guess, but it was a joke with my mattress. Could not begin to hold the weight of the mattress and caused me to roll into the middle of the mattress. Couldn't find anything else. Then 'duh', lightbulb went on and I went online to Tempur-pedic's site, and lo and behold, they had what I needed. Yes, it's pricey, but the mattress is an investment too. It's a perfect pairing. I ordered the foundation, got my confirmation, got a call to schedule my delivery, and got my foundation delivered all within a matter of 4 days! Great customer service!!”

Works with a platform bed frame

“I had a platform bed which did not sit up high enough and my mattress was 6 inches and it gave me bad back pain. I read everywhere that the only option would be a three inch or a bunkie board but I really did not want that. Besides all the prices were the same. A 9 inch would make my bed way too high. A low profile worked good along with my current 6 inch mattress and then I bought the 3 inch cooling mattress topper to transform my whole bed. I would had loved a mattress from here but my bed would had set down too low still. The price would had been too high for both mattress and topper and it defeat the purpose of getting a topper with one of the nice mattress’s on here. This combination worked out better for me. The only complaint I have was that there was a small place on top of the box spring. It looked like glue and it made a little torn hard place on it. The shipping was ok and arrived within a week. I think it would had been a hassle to exchange this box spring because of the small bad place on it. It’s something for the mattress to sit on top of so it doesn’t bother me as much. This low profile does work with a platform. The 9 inch one would be too high. I believe my platform is about 10 inches. My platform does sit lower than many others. Hope this helps.”

High 9" Tempur-flat foundation is too high

“I have two twin XL foundations under a king size mattress. I have an 18 year old king iron bed frame that is still in like new condition. The Tempur flat foundation is slightly smaller than the frame; head to foot. I replaced a similar style, but king size foundation that was 18 years old. I misjudged the height. I would have been happier with the Low 5" foundation. because of the height difference, I needed a new dust ruffle with 18" drop. The flat foundation is perfectly fine though. It has a nice finished look, but now covered with dust ruffle to also cover bed frame. With the mattress on top, it is nearly impossible to shift within the bed frame. Putting on the dust ruffle after the delivery with a super heavy king size Tempur Luxe breeze 13" mattress was quite the task. If you are in similar situation, I suggest getting that dust ruffle on before delivery team places the mattress on top of the foundation. Being mostly a side sleeper, I couldn't justify the expense of an adjustable base. I have decided to get bed side step stool, which I hope makes it easier to get in bed. I'm fairly satisfied in the end.”

“Our 2" Ultra Low Profile foundations arrived today for our King bed. Tempur Pedic advertises them to be "Engineered to support your Tempur-Pedic® mattress — and upholstered in matching grey fabric — with a perfectly solid, flat surface at a height that's right for you". I called Tempur Pedic two different times to confirm that these foundations are a "perfectly solid, flat surface". Each time I was assured that the tops of these foundations were solid wood or plywood or MDF. Well they arrived and they are not a "perfectly solid, flat surface". They are flat but they are a wood picture frame with several slats and covered with cardboard on top and then a fabric. I am so annoyed because of the false advertising and false information provided by the Tempur Pedic representatives. I made these calls because along with their descriptions they also state "This product cannot be returned and the 90-Night Trial does not apply". I could have ordered the same description , cardboard topped, bunky boards from other retailers for half the price. However, I wanted foundations advertised by Tempur Pedic on their website and confirmed by their customer service representatives. I have been baited and switched and stuck with unreturnable foundations.”

Poor quality product!

“Just purchased a king ProAdapt Tempur-Pedic mattress and two twin XL Tempur-Pedic foundations. So far the mattress has been great. My wife and I love the way it sleeps and it appears to be well made. The foundations have been a big problem though. Upon delivery I quickly noticed the lack of quality in the foundations. One had a big bow (curve) in it and the side fabric was not pulled tight and stapled properly, which left a bulge in the fabric. The curved foundation won't lay flat on my railing. Also the felt fabric was halfway stapled on the backside. Then I noticed that the other foundation had the same flaws with the improperly stretched fabric along the sides and again, poorly stapled felt backing. I got with the dealer's salesman and we decided to replace the two flawed foundations. After approximately a week we had two more foundations delivered. Here we go again, unpackaged one of the foundations and the delivery guy quickly noticed that a span of about four feet on the backing had not even been stapled. The staples were there but none had even touched the felt backing, the felt fabric (~4 ft) was just flopping. The second replacement foundations didn't even make it off the truck. The delivery guy and I noticed that it had a very big hole in the packaging and that something punctured the backing on the foundation, needless to say we just left it on the truck. So, I'm currently just living with the original two foundations and their flaws. You would think that Tempur-Pedic would have better quality control and demand quality craftsmanship from their employees, considering the high cost of their products.”

“Once I got the proper foundation it has been great. Nothing wrong with it. Customer service surrounding it is poor. If your selling people $3K to $5K mattresses maybe you could ease up on the foundation policy a bit. I found that the one I ordered was too tall. Had not been used and I simply wanted to exchange it. I would have paid for shipping. Turns out some clause burried in the $3K paperwork makes the foundation non-returnable . Whatever , I bought another one and spent $700 instead of $350. Then the person on the phone had the nerve to try and up-sell me to the adjustable one. Or they could have offered me the adjustable one with a $350 credit. That's what they call customer service. Anyway, this is my fourth temperpedic and my last, I will be sure to let friends and family know that you lost my business over a messily $350. Whatever ...”

Awful smell that just doesn't dissipate

“I see a couple of others have complained about the odor of this base. It's very strange because there is not much to it, just some fabric, foam padding, wood, and metal. I'm guessing the fabric and foam are treated with some anti-flammable chemical which is off-gassing. I had to move this out of my house into the outdoor shed and i'm hoping the smell will go away but it's more of a fume than a smell and I'm sure it cannot be healthy and even after having this over two months it doesn't seem to be going away. This is all incredibly frustrating because I need the base, it does the job and it's comfortable and looks nice but is unusable due to the awful chemical it's been treated with. I was able to return the tempur-pedic mattress which also had an awful fumey chemical smell but they wouldn't take back the base.”

“The product itself is great! Getting the product actually delivered was a nightmare! Tempur-Pedic uses XPO Logistics to deliver the platform. 8 different delivery dates and times given. Never showed or contacted me the first 7. The 'delivery window' is 8 am - 8 pm...what a joke! And Tempur Pedicure won't do a thing to assist with the delivery. They just kept telling me to call back and they would escalate if it didn't get delivered. I would tell them, "That's what I'm doing!" Will never purchase from TP again or from any company who uses XPO Logistics!”

“I have older tempurpedic foundations that are made from SOLID wood. On the sides and top is SOLID wood. These new ones are flimsy on the sides and have a piece of CARDBOARD for the top layer. The inside is made of metal rods with wood slats. They reduced the quality for shipping purposes as the new one weighs almost nothing compared to the old ones that are HEAVY and SOLID. It claims it can hold up to 800lbs. But IMO the old design is much more sturdy and well made. The new one is OK but when compared to the old its laughable.”

It took a couple weeks for the mattress to relax but it's great. Highly recommend.”

My platform bed has horizontal slats 3 inches apart, but my new mattress didn't feel like it had the proper support. I had some sagging when I turned over, etc. I purchased this foundation after researching bunkie boards and what would help provide more support on my platform bed. Most information I found said a slatted platform bed would suffice without a solid surface. Not true! Foam, even in just a hybrid mattress, needs a solid base. All other bunkie boards I found were pieces of wood, not a solid one piece foundation like this. This Tempurpedic 2 in foundation has solved all my problems and my mattress is perfect now. Highly recommend. Worth the money!”

It came delivered from a 3rd party which I feel they changed the product out I can't see this being something tempurpedic would put there name on and was so poorly crafted it seemed like a 5 year old put it together in the dark. nothing was flush, wood was sticking out so far it was already ripping through the fabric. Almost every piece of wood on the bottom was cracked. I still don't even understand what the benefit of it was or why it's being sold I would give it zero stars if possible. The website states no box springs for the mattresses, that's exactly what this product is. Customer service was extremely nice and let me return it after the received photos and get my full refund. Which I am extremely grateful for they handled it very well.Ironically it's one of the few items on the website that say no refund at all be careful before you purchase this if you do.”

Though a hybrid and even with a cooling gel topper, I could not get a good night's rest because the foam is so dense, it does not allow for air circulation and cooling. Instead, it traps my body heat and I refuse to spend additional money buying expensive, cooling sheets. I have never had issues with overheating while sleeping until I tried memory foam mattresses so it is back to innerspring I go. I also found a medium to be too hard and did not provide enough comfort.”

“I never ordered a base with my ProAdapt Medium mattress (3 years ago) because the website says you can place the mattress on a slatted bed (with measurement conditions). I started sinking so far down in my mattress at night that I was waking up in pain in my lower back and ribs…every single day. I finally had an epiphany that I should order a base to firm the mattress up a bit. I just received it today and oh my gosh! What a difference! To anyone buying a mattress, spend the extra money and buy the base too. I think it's outrageously priced (which is why I rated 4 stars instead of 5), but for years of better sleep, I'm telling myself that it's worth it. To Tempur-Pedic, I would remove your wording on your website about not needing the base if you have a slatted bed. The slats do NOT provide the correct amount of support for this mattress. Also, the 2" base should not cost the same as the 5" and above. Lower the price and you will sell more!”

“The delivery of the foundation was first rate. I was notified, the delivery team was extremely professional and courteous, but then I was concerned. The foundation's appearance was very mediocre. The fabric was haphazardly stapled to the bottom. There were areas kind of not stapled which stuck out. There were corner pieces that said for the customer to remove. When I did, there were long staples that stuck out and I, of course, cut myself. 🤣 Fortunately it does the job and I am in love with my Tempurpedic mattress!”

“The foundation is of good quality, but came with a rip in the fabric covering the bottom. It is not likely that it was ripped during transport on delivery truck, as the plastic protecting it was still intact. Delivery was good. The Tempur-Pedic mattress we purchased was delivered separately by UPS, and had already arrived. Since we had already moved the old pieces out for pickup by the delivery team and brought the foundation in ourselves to place on the bedframe, we did not know about the rip until the delivery guys were gone. It would still have been an inconvenience to return it, and wait for a replacement. We would have had to haul the old pieces back into place and live with the big bag with the mattress while we waited. We just made a repair to it ourselves. The previous foundation was not Tempur-Pedic, and seemed to be just as good in quality, but cost a lot less. It worked fine with our Tempur-Pedic mattress. In retrospect, I probably would not have replaced it, given the expense and the damage.”

The only issue is we ordered the wrong size for our bed frame (oops) and Tempur-pedic wouldn't do an exchange which is a little odd (we just wanted to go from the 9" to the 5", not a return, just an exchange), but that has nothing to do with the product itself, which is solid. I would just recommend buying the bed frame first to ensure you're getting the right size since you cannot exchange it (we unfortunately moved w/o a bed and had to buy the mattress first).”

“I ordered a 1 piece platform. It showed up as a 2 piece which required significant modifications to my bed frame. The website clearly allowed for the choice between 2 and one pieces. After contacting an extremely rude and dismissive customer service agent, she claimed they've never sold the king in 2 pieces. I would not have purchased it had that been made clear on the website. Not impressed, to say the least.”

“We received the foundation delivered with the mesh torn beneath and edge dented. I did not see damage as they set it down the other way and I am not strong enough to lift. Called Representative and they set up replacement but we had to put on bed and staple and repair the best we could and put mattress back on. I don't want to go through that again. Tempur quality should have never come like that. I own three mattresses of Tempur. I was surprised. I have pics. I just wanted refund or partial for stress or apply to new mattress purchase they would not do either.”

“Shipping was fast but product is very cheaply made. It's a piece of wood with fabric covering it and nails to keep the fabric in place. There were multiple large nails hanging out the bottom of the boards. There was no way I could put these on my bed because the nails would have ruined the bed frame. I returned these immediately. Only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because return process was very simple and fast. But the product itself is not worth any amount of money IMO, and hurts the Tempurpedic brand.”

“After receiving this low-profile foundation, I realized I should've purchased the higher profile instead. When I asked if I could exchange it I was informed that foundations could not be returned or exchanged do to environmental reasons. I am unclear as to why I can exchange the mattress after so many days (a mattress that has been slept on) but can't exchange the foundation, which has not been slept on. Make sure you measure several times and are sure of the height you desire before ordering. Beware.”

A Good Foundation that could be made Great!

“This is a fine foundation. Provides a good support to the mattress and is silent with my movement on the mattress. The only issue I have is that it should have a 'Scoot Guard' strip of some sort attached to it so that it will hold the mattress in place. I contacted customer support and they recommended using a 'carpet backing' to hold the mattress in place. I have done so and it helped the situation but not done away the issue. Every couple weeks the mattress still needs to be aligned with the foundation. If the material were permanently attached to the foundation it would probably fix the issue.”

Too fragile

“I bought flat foundation (high-9", size: queen) in September 2022, and it's broken in October 2022. I purchased both the mattress and the foundation from Tempur Pedic. The foundation was directly placed on the floor, and the mattress was directly placed on the foundation. I was shocked that the foundation was broken so fast. After I filed the warranty claim, it was denied for replacement. Ramsay from Tempur Pedic explained to me, "It appears that your foundation is experiencing some damage associated with an improper bed frame, foundation, or adjustable base. This can include, but is not limited to, the use of an unapproved bed frame, foundation, or adjustable power base, the use of a box spring, use of plywood or materials that are not recommended, broken slats/frame, etc. Based on the information you provided, it appears that the foundation is failing due to the improper frame/support below the mattress. If the foundation were properly supported with an approved foundation, base, or bed frame, it would likely not be experiencing the issues at hand now as our mattresses are designed to function best with Tempur-Pedic approved bases. " ===>I DID purchase the foundation from Tempur Pedic. I'm not sure why I would need to support the foundation with another foundation. This makes no sense. I honestly WASTED my money on this foundation. SMH”

“I absolutely love tempur pedic mattresses. We have been faithful to the brand for more than 15 years now. Our first set was amazing. Upgrading to our second was even better. We had to go from a queen size to a kind size recently and tempur pedic again did not dissapoint. I did have trouble to adjusting to the firmness of a new set at first but they kindly gave me a free mattress topper to help with that transition and it's been perfect ever since. I get the softness and firmness i need at the same time. My husband who is a 29 year Firefighter with a very bad back gets just what he needs to support it. There is no other mattress out there like it. Why pay for a mattress that has to have parts and extras steps to adjust its support to get what you need when you can have it all and crawl into bed and not push a button. It just does all that for you the moment you lay down. Yup Faithful to tempur pedic for LIFE!!!”

I have severe spinal issues and have had 5 surgeries, and our tempurpedic actually contributed to my recovery from each surgery. We recently bought our disabled daughter a queen size tempurpedic and she absolutely loves it. It took a couple of days to get used to it, as it's more firm than a traditional mattress, but she sleeps more soundly and likes how it's not "lumpy"! We won't ever waste our time with any other type of mattress!”

“I have a flat foundation I bought back in 2013 that is very heavy and solid so I assumed this product would be the same. I was wrong. I am disappointed it is not solid like my initial purchase. It feels like the inside is hollow and has slats which I fear will eventually break and why I choose to buy another Tempurpedic foundation versus another style. I should of just bought another cheaper foundation because nothing seems to be different but the higher price. The color I got, dark gray, is nice but since it's cloth I fear it may rip in the future, my other foundation has a suede like finish.”

“These probably work best if placed on a sheet of plywood or directly on the floor. Anything other than 100% coverage of the base results in tweaking and eventual bed sagging. When placed directly on the floor, the frame is quieter. But the top layer of cardboard makes noise as you get into and out of the bed. They are made of stapled particle board rails. We have owned 5 sets in 11 years. Not a single good one.”

Waste of Money

After reading other reviews, I decided to replace it with one that I found from another online retailer (which is fantastic). After putting together the new foundation, I cut off the cover of the one I originally purchased from Tempu-Pedic. It was made out of fiber board with plastic connectors, and one of the fiber board "cross beams" was completely broken in two. At this point in time I am questioning the integrity of the mattress that I purchased as well. For the time being it is fine, but I get the impression that it will not last as long as it is supposed to. I will never purchase another product from Tempur-Pedic again.”

I call tempurpedic customer service up and they told me there was no problem replacing my foundation cause they know that the foundation squeaks after use. They told me the only way to replace it was with my original receipt, that is a load of bull. How many people keep their receipt for up to ten years, for god sake the foundation has their tags on it. After this I will be buying my next bed at sleep number and I will be passing the word to friends to buy sleep number. Tempurpedic would rather have your money then a good customer relationship.”

“I am SO disappointed and frustrated after being told by 3 customer service reps. that this foundation is made of a solid sheet of plywood. IT IS NOT. When I poke it with my finger it crushes like corrugated cardboard. If it IS ply wood, it is the thinnest, flimsiest plywood I've ever heard of. It less than 1/4" thick, and when I place one hand on top and one on the bottom I can feel my hands right through it and it flexes quite easily. The first two reps were plain rude, the third was absolutely lovely, but I think they give the reps misleading information. (I'm not saying the reps lie, the last seemed very sincere. ) There is no way this foundation is going to be able to provide support for years without that flimsy, cheaply made, overpriced "plywood" that feels and behaves EXACTLY like corrugated cardboard sagging or having issues. I wish I could cut it open to take a look for myself and see just what this "plywood" looks like, but I won't since I'll be sending it back and expecting a full refund. I've loved my Tempurpedic Mattress for years, but this foundation is an absolute waste of money. Save yourself both the frustration and the $$$ and go pick up some plywood at the hardware store and cover it with some cheap sheets. It'll do the same job with far superior quality.”

“The first foundation broke within a month. It was replaced pretty painlessly by Tempur-Pedic; however, the replacement also broke within a couple months. The MDF or paperboard used is simply garbage for a 230 lb guy. After the joints broke again I added some brackets and got it to last several years but now it's fully broken. There's no way I'll buy another one.”

“I needed to replace my existing foundation after buying an old house and it wouldn't fit up the stairs. Placed an order for the split foundation online. Received a text from XPO the delivery company indicating that they were informed of the order and would contact me to schedule the delivery. So I waited and waited. After two weeks I called three different numbers for XPO before someone finally could help me. They said they probably emailed to schedule delivery and it just went to the spam folder. Checked spam folder, nothing. So the delivery company just sat on it for two weeks and made no attempt to contact me. Tempurpedic needs to work with a better delivery company. My experience buying from Casper was much better and a fraction of the price”

One or both dislodge from the frame, making the foundation unstable. If you hear a creaking noise in your Tempur-pedic foundation, check for a broken rib by running your hand along the side rail. If the rib or slat has dropped below the level of the foundation frame, it is broken, and you should contact Tempur-pedic customer service for a warranty foundation replacement. We have solid steel slats bolted to the bed frame with center feet, as recommended by Tempur-pedic, so our bed frame support for the foundation and mattress is not an issue.”

“We have enjoyed our tempurpedic mattress but found the original foundation raised the bed to an unsafe height. I was using a foot stool to reach the bed and my husband wa giving a little "hop". After he had a serious illness, he was no longer able to do this. The shorter foundation solved the problem nicely! Had a major delivery problem though. Had to wait almost a week after the product arrived locally for the delivery. Then, they refused to put it on the bed. Only did so after I showed them the tempurpedic "promise" that it would be done. That amounted to $40. in tips but they refused to take the old ones away. Had to hire someone else to do that.”

“We ordered this foundation which was quickly delivered to their shipping company who held the mattress over a week before delivery. The foundation arrived torn. I call the company who quickly reordered another foundation. Which once again arrived quickly to the shipping company who then held it for almost 2 weeks. I was called by a computer, to tell me they were going to deliver the foundation the next day and if that was not ok press 2. I did press 2 and was told that this number was unavailable so I left a message not to deliver because we were out of town. The shipping company delivered it the next day any way. Thank goodness our neighbors let them in the house. The new foundation also arrived torn. The company stood behind the foundation and refunded my money. The foundation is wonderful and so is the company but unless you are going to pick this up yourself I would not purchase it due to the terrible shipping company.”

The first one brought to my home and opened in my presence had 2 holes in it and the corner staples were loose with fabric flapping. The replacement was in worse condition. The delivery man told me they were all like that. I am still waiting for the third one to be delivered. For all the hype and attention given to the mattress, they should out more effort into the quality of the platform. I would have kept the 20+ year old one I had, but the warranty on the mattress states the condition of the foundation could give rise to dishonoring the warranty.”

Works with a platform bed frame

“I had a platform bed which did not sit up high enough and my mattress was 6 inches and it gave me bad back pain. I read everywhere that the only option would be a three inch or a bunkie board but I really did not want that. Besides all the prices were the same. A 9 inch would make my bed way too high. A low profile worked good along with my current 6 inch mattress and then I bought the 3 inch cooling mattress topper to transform my whole bed. I would had loved a mattress from here but my bed would had set down too low still. The price would had been too high for both mattress and topper and it defeat the purpose of getting a topper with one of the nice mattress’s on here. This combination worked out better for me. The only complaint I have was that there was a small place on top of the box spring. It looked like glue and it made a little torn hard place on it. The shipping was ok and arrived within a week. I think it would had been a hassle to exchange this box spring because of the small bad place on it. It’s something for the mattress to sit on top of so it doesn’t bother me as much. This low profile does work with a platform. The 9 inch one would be too high. I believe my platform is about 10 inches. My platform does sit lower than many others. Hope this helps. ”

The inside is made of metal rods with wood slats. They reduced the quality for shipping purposes as the new one weighs almost nothing compared to the old ones that are HEAVY and SOLID. It claims it can hold up to 800lbs. But IMO the old design is much more sturdy and well made. The new one is OK but when compared to the old its laughable.”

This way, you have more flexibility in choosing any type of platform bed without worrying about mattress compatibility. After a long search, I could not find a platform bed with slats at least 3 inches thick and spaced less than 4 inches apart. Therefore, I opted for the 2" ultra low foundation, which allows me to use it now and switch to my ideal platform bed later — definitely worth it! Con: I ordered a king size and received 2 Twin Long pieces instead. While they are both the same size in total, I received two separate pieces instead of one. “I had purchased a new bedroom set. The headboard and frame was huge, so the previous simple boards the mattress sat on before would not do. Way too much space between the bottom of headboard and top of mattress. I didn't realize that box springs were a thing of the past (and would have ruined the Tempur-pedic mattress anyway. So I tried those framed box ("box springs) which are just a framed wooden box with wooden pieces going across and vertically. Couldn't find anything else. Then 'duh', lightbulb went on and I went online to Tempur-pedic's site, and lo and behold, they had what I needed. Yes, it's pricey, but the mattress is an investment too. It's a perfect pairing. I ordered the foundation, got my confirmation, got a call to schedule my delivery, and got my foundation delivered all within a matter of 4 days! Great customer service!! ”

“So far, so good. The foundations (2 pieces for King) are well made, light-weight enough to move ourselves (seniors), and yet solid enough to provide a good base for our new mattress. They bring the bed down to much better overall height than the 9" base we previously tried. We are both over 5'9" and if we were much shorter we would probably chose the 2" foundation.”
